Alabama's Department of Homeland Security have produced a video that is designed to show civilians how to react in the event that they are involved in a mass shooting.

While originally produced before the event, according to the AP the video was re-released by the Alabama Homeland Security after a request from Governor Robert Bentley following the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting in December.

The video, originally produced for the Houston Police Department and re-edited for Alabama audiences, shows a shooting inside an office building. It is titled "RUN HIDE FIGHT", after the order in which citizens are advised to react.

The video was uploaded to YouTube in November and has seen a flurry of discussion over the tactics in YouTube's comments in recent days.

CORRECTION: The article originally stated the video was made in response to the Sandy Hook shooting. Alabama Homeland Security have been in contact to clarify that the video was in fact made before the shooting and was re-released afterwards.
